“Stand Up for Jesus”
The Hymn “Stand Up, Stand Up for Jesus” is one of the many marvelous hymns in our Baptist Hymnal. The first verse goes “Stand Up, Stand Up for Jesus, Ye soldiers of the the cross; lift high His royal banner, it must not suffer loss; From Victory unto victory His army shall he lead, Till every foe is vanquished, and Christ is Lord indeed.” Stand up Jesus we people of the cross. That is what we are to be - people of the cross- people of Jesus Christ- followers of Jesus Christ. Therefore I want to encourage us followers of Jesus to stand up for Him since that is what we are to do. That is what we are to be passionate about - standing up for Him- our Lord and Savior The Lenten season is a wonderful time to refocus on doing so if we have backslidden from doing so. What are some ways we can do so? Pray - talk to the Lord Jesus- take everything to Jesus in prayer. Be in Worship- I can not stress that enough- God desires for you to worship the Lord Jesus. Make Holy week services a top priority. Listen not to the preacher about being in worship even though I definitely want you here, but listen to the Lord about being with the church in worship. On Easter Sunday be here for Worship. Now we are hosting the Community Sunrise Service this year- come if you can- love to have you, however be in Worship @ 10:30AM if at all possible. I would love to see a high attendance on Easter Sunday to celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ not to say we had a big crowd, but to give glory and honor to the Resurrected Jesus who died on the cross to save us from our sins three days earlier on Good Friday. Resurrection Sunday is the greatest day in the life of the church. It would truly bring joy to the Resurrected Jesus.
Also stand up for Jesus by witnessing about Him -sharing our testimony how the Lord has saved us. Share about what the Lord has done on the cross and resurrected to new life and that because of Jesus doing when we are saved we bury our old sinful life and raised to a new life in the Lord. Friends stand up for the Lord Jesus Christ by not being ashamed of the Gospel. Don’t be ashamed to witness to others about Jesus. In the Words of Romans 1:16 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.” “Stand up stand up for Jesus brothers and sisters in Christ.
